A2fl-s1 / A2-s1, d0 fire rated decking
It is now a legal requirement for all materials in the external envelope of a building, over 11m in height, to be non-combustible.
The resulting implications for Housing Associations and Local Authorities has been wide reaching with a call for the refurbishment of housing stocks across the UK where combustible materials are present in building envelopes.
Adek is a non-combustible decking system that is A2fl-s1 & A2-s1,d0 fire rated. Its development was focused on creating a non-combustible decking system, flexible enough to replace existing combustible decking, whilst still looking stunning and achieving long-lasting properties.
All our Adek aluminium systems are fully compliant with the latest building regulations and have been designed in accordance with BS 8579:2020 – the design code for balconies.

Adek's CPD for fire rated decking
There is now a plethora of legislation, design guidance, and fire testing surrounding the topic of non-combustible decking, which can be challenging to review and understand.
Our CPD “A specifier’s guide to non-combustible decking systems” has been designed to support architects and specifiers as they navigate this ever-changing topic. It provides an overview of the factors to consider when choosing high-rise decking, including:
- Changes to the building regulations and legislation that have implications on products used in the external envelope of buildings
- Suitability of aluminium in construction products
- Fire legislation surrounding balconies on high-rise developments
- An explanation on Class A2 fire-rating and the differences between A2fl-s1 and A2-s1, d0 classifications
- Understanding slip resistance for non-combustible aluminium decking

Adek products have been developed with the retrofit market in mind. Our Adek boards come in either 20mm or 30mm heights which will cover most project requirements which are replacing wood or composite.
All our boards can be cut onsite to reduce their overall length. Additionally, our 295mm wide span boards in both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip, can be ripped length ways onsite to fit a require space. A specially designed Adek support leg is used on the cut edge to finish the decking system.
Yes, our systems are face fixed through an integral channel which is subsequently covered by an easy fit channel cover to conceal the fixings. This means there are no fiddly decking clips required. We also have a wide span 295mm board that enables large decking areas to be covered rapidly.
Both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip boards have been tested in accordance with HSE guidelines and are categorised as having low slip potential in both wet and dry conditions. The Enhanced Grip range of boards offers a 19.5% increase in grip resistance (in wet conditions) in comparison to the Comfort Grip due to its low profile raised ridge.
All Adek systems come with a 30 year warranty.
