Performance
Yes - All Adek systems are non-combustible and carry fire-ratings of A2fl-s1 and A2-s1, d0.
Both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip boards have been tested in accordance with HSE guidelines and are categorised as having low slip potential in both wet and dry conditions. The Enhanced Grip range of boards offers a 19.5% increase in grip (in wet conditions) in comparison to the Comfort Grip due to its low profile raised ridge.
All Adek systems come with a 30 year warranty.
Like most decking materials in direct sunlight, aluminium decking will absorb and retain some heat. However, it retains less heat than either timber or composite decking because of the inherent properties of aluminium which enable it to disperse heat much quicker.
When fitted correctly and to the installation instructions, Adek should not warp.
Applications
Yes – it is non-combustible.
Yes – the Adek channel profile allows for lifting eye bolts to be used even with the boards already installed. The channel is simply pre-drilled wide enough to allow the lifting eye fixing to pass through unobstructed and then secured to the balcony substructure below. Once the balcony is lifted and installed in its final position, the lifting eyes can be removed and the remaining holes are then concealed by our unique press clipped channel cover
Yes, in fact it is an excellent choice for garden landscaping. It is long lasting, has low-slip potential and requires minimal maintenance. It is also sleek and modern in appearance.
In theory they can be, but there are various different installation parameters and regulations that need to be met, therefore please contact us directly to discuss your requirements before specifying for this application.
The Adek aluminium decking system offers a non-combustible, high performance decking solution for balconies, decks and terraces which has wide span capabilities whilst providing excellent slip and wear resistance.
Yes, we have various thicknesses of boards, bearers and pedestals to supply.
Fixing ancillary items to Adek decking is possible but care should be taken to ensure the correct fixings are used. Pre-drilling will be required, and suitability is the responsibility of the customer/homeowner.
Adek products have been developed with the retrofit market in mind. Our Adek boards come in either 20mm or 30mm heights which will cover most project requirements which are replacing wood or composite.
Adek system details
Comfort Grip boards have a flat tread surface whereas Enhanced Grip boards have a low profile (1mm) raised ridge running the length of the board’s tread surface.
The Enhanced Grip offers a higher level of slip resistance, providing a 15.7% increase in grip within dry conditions and a 19.5% increase in grip resistance in the wet.
Both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip boards are available in 4m, 5m and 6m lengths. We also offer a bespoke length service and would request you contact us to discuss your requirements in more detail.
Both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip boards are available in either 20mm or 30mm depth.
Both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip boards are available in either 147mm or 295mm widths.

Yes, we supply two types of fixings to accommodate differing thicknesses in our boards which are either 20mm or 30mm deep.
End plates are available to purchase when ordering your Adek board. Ensure that you order the appropriate part(s) based on the board that you are purchasing to be installed.
Yes we do, Please get in touch with a member of the team to discuss your requirements further.
Installation
Yes, our systems are face fixed through an integral channel which is subsequently covered by an easy fit channel cover to conceal the fixings. This means there are no fiddly decking clips required. We also have a wide span 295mm board that enables large decking areas to be covered rapidly.
All our boards can be cut onsite to reduce their overall length. Additionally, our 295mm wide span boards in both Comfort Grip and Enhanced Grip, can be ripped length ways onsite to fit a require space. A specially designed Adek support leg is used on the cut edge to finish the decking system.
Yes – because our boards are screw fixed through the face, rather than interlocking or through a clip system, it allows a single board to be lifted and replaced if necessary.
For the chop saw you will need a saw to cut 300mm for the width of the deck. The blade should be a TCT blade with a high number of teeth such as the Frued TCT Circular Saw Blade 305x30mm 96T or the Makita TCT Circular Saw Blade 305x30mm 80T.
Yes - you will need a sliding saw with the correct cut capacity. The blade will need to make a cut of 420mm at a depth of either 20mm or 30mm depending on depth of Adek board used.
For the circular saw to rip down the length you will need a similar TCT blade such as the Erbauer Circular Saw Blade 165x20mm 40T.
We advise that you should leave 5mm gaps between each decking board.
Yes, you can but it must be lifted off the surface using a pedestal and bearer system to not pierce the waterproofing.
Yes, both of our 295mm boards can be cut in length and ‘ripped’ to the correct width.
Yes, our fixings have been designed to minimise corrosion issues between the various metals.
Yes, please visit our Technical Hub which details our installation guide. If you require any further information please get in touch with our technical team.
All decking, balconies and terraces should be designed with drainage requirements in mind – low falls will ensure water dissipates as will the 5mm gaps between boards.
Adek systems are supplied with specific screws for fixing the boards and associated components, which comprise of a washer to prevent water ingress in between materials. As with all steel, once the Galvanic finish has been pierced it is open to the elements. To combat this we recommend an anti-rust spray or paint should be applied to the screw holes before fixing to prevent rust. A sacrificial anode may also be used.
Care should be taken not to over-tighten fixings. We advise that you set screwdrivers/impact drivers to a suitable torque setting.
Pre-drilling is required using the two outer grooves in the fixing channel at each fixing point on the bearer. Appropriate screws are then used to secure the boards and subsequently ‘hidden’ with a channel cover applied.
Integral to the entire Adek range is an extra wide fixing channel that allows an eye bolt to be directly secured to the balcony substructure, meaning that all Adek deck boards can be fitted off-site and still allow for the completed balcony to be craned into position. Once in situ and the eye bolts removed, a channel cover is snapped into place covering both the eye bolt holes and the Adek fixings.
Our 295mm x 30mm board is capable of spanning 1.2m between fixing centres.
Testing & certification
Aluminium is classed as a fire-resistant material and will not contribute to the perpetuation of a fire. Not only is it non-combustible, aluminium is also highly resistant to forms of corrosion. The metals natural coating of aluminium oxide provides a highly effective barrier to the ravages of air, temperature, moisture and chemical attack.
A: BS EN 13501-1 provides the fire classification procedure for all construction products, which includes products incorporated within building elements. These products are separated into three categories:
1. Construction products (which excludes floorings and linear pipe thermal insulation products)
2. Floorings
3. Linear pipe thermal insulation products
To classify in accordance with BS EN 13501-1, dependent on the product and area of application, a combination of tests is required which determine a products classification.
The classification is split up into three parts: the main classification, the smoke classification, and the flaming droplet classification.
The main part of the classification is its letter – A1, A2, B, C, D, E and F. A1 (non-combustible) is the highest level of performance, with F being the lowest performance level.
Flooring materials are classified according to the same classes (A1, A2, B, C, D, E and F) followed by the abbreviation ‘fl’ for flooring.
Products that are classified in the A1 and A2 classes are non-combustible materials and from B to F are combustible materials in ascending order.
Yes, all of our testing and certification is available in our Technical Hub on our website.
Care & maintenance
For minor scratches please use our touch up pens (available to buy from Adek). For major impacts and gouges you will need to replace either the channel cover or the Adek board.
A simple panel lifting tool or similar with an l-shaped end can be used to pull up the channel cover from the end providing the installer has left the recommended expansion gap. You may have to remove the end trim to lift the channel cover if this has been fitted. Then simply remove the Adek fixing screws to lift the board and replace it. Existing channel covers if undamaged can be re-used.
Adek should be cleaned with warm soapy water only and rinsed thoroughly with fresh clean water. Further details can be found in our Care and Maintenance Specification download in the Tech Hub.
Aluminium is a very low maintenance material. However, we do advise that you clean your Adek system with soap a solution, at least every six months to minimise the build-up of dirt and debris.
To prolong the life and premium appearance of your Adek installation we recommend that it is cleaned at least every six months. For a heavy footfall area, you may wish to clean it more regularly to minimise damage, or risk of injury from the build of dirt/debris.
No, Adek boards have a Qualicoat 1 covering which means that there is no need to repaint the boards.
